Numara Software will be taken over by competitor BMC Software just months after opening a Sydney office and establishing an Australian presence.
BMC Software yesterday announced it would take over the solutions provider as part of an aggressive growth strategy for its software-as-a-service (SaaS) business.
It has acquired six separate companies over the past 18 months including I/O Concepts, GridApp Systems and Phurnace Software.
The transaction is expected to close before the fourth quarter of this year. BMC declined to provide details of the deal's value.
BMC enterprise service management president Paul Avenant told CRN the acquisition would address dissatisfied partners defecting due to the company's inability to meet demand for SME and mid-market solutions.
“The acquisition of Numara resolves this and positions BMC as a clear leader in the SME, mid-market and the enterprise,” he said.
BMC will take control of the US-based service and solutions provider’s 13,000 customers and 70 partners worldwide, as well as the sale of its staple FootPrints management software and Track-It! help desk and asset management solution.
Numara established its Australian presence last year as part of a global expansion, following the acquisition of former Australian partner Salamander Services.
It introduced a Sydney office, a 24/7 support hub in Melbourne and appointed Geoff Masters to head up the local operation.
Avenant told CRN Numara’s 12+ staff and eight vendor partners in Australia would be retained in the BMC business.
“Numara’s R&D, sales, professional services, marketing and customer support will be kept intact,” he said. “The goal is to avoid any impact on sales momentum and keep the Numara team focused on servicing customers.”
