The vendor’s foray into channel sales in Australia began with OfficeWorks in May 2007.
Evan Williams, general manager, consumer sales and marketing at Dell Australia, said consumers will be able to buy Dell products with standard configurations, including Inspiron desktops and laptops, Studio Hybrid and Studio laptops, XPS laptops and three different monitors.
Williams said product pricing will be set by Good Guys, an Australian white goods and audio visual retailer, known for “slashing prices”.
Peter Sinodinos, general manager merchandise – Techzone for The Good Guys said the retailer will continue its low cost model on products.
“Our customers will let us know what they want for pricing,” he said.
According to Williams the servicing of the products will be taken care of by Dell as part of the customer’s standard warranty.
“[Customers] will buy from the Good Guys and if there are any problems they can call Dell and we will help them over the phone, before sending out someone to collect the machine,” said Williams.
Sinodinos said it was pretty much aligned with Dell on the issue of warranty and servicing.
A range of desktops, laptops and monitors will hit our stores nationally from mid December, in time for the holidays, he said.
Dell Australia will continue to operate a total of 18 kiosks located in shopping malls in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and West Australia.
Williams claimed the company has expanded its kiosk footprint across the country to include two new states and five new locations since its first retail announcement in Australia.
