Strict US laws governing online security and privacy may soon find their equivalent in Australia as more cases emerge of consumer information being misappropriated, according to Nick Abrahams, partner and head of the technology, media and telecommunications group with law firm Deacons.

SCO puts cap on legal costs, moves to protect shareholders
As the high cost of litigation takes its toll, The SCO Group has instituted a US$31 million cap on legal fees to be spent over the duration of its pending legal action and has enacted a shareholder rights plan to protect investors from any hostile takeover attempt.
