Cloud security vendor Zscaler has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Red Canary, a managed detection and response specialist, as part of a strategy to expand its AI-powered platform capabilities.
The acquisition will combine Zscaler's zero trust architecture (ZTA) with Red Canary's security operations expertise to create what the companies calls an "agentic Security Operations Centre."
Red Canary brings over a decade of security operations experience, claiming it enables customers to investigate threats up to 10 times faster with 99.6 per cent accuracy through automated remediation workflows.
The deal will integrate Red Canary's threat detection capabilities with Zscaler's data from processing over 500 billion daily transactions across its global security cloud platform.
"With our innovative AI-powered risk management services like Risk360 and the acquired data fabric technology from Avalor, we are disrupting legacy security operations just like we did with our Zero Trust Exchange platform," Jay Chaudhry, chief executive and founder of Zscaler, said.
Chaudhry described the acquisition as expanding Zscaler's capabilities into managed detection and response whilst accelerating the company's vision of an AI-powered SOC.
"By integrating Red Canary with Zscaler, we will deliver to our customers the power of a fully integrated Zero Trust platform and AI-powered security operations," he said.
The acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in August 2025. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
