WhiteGold signs security up-and-comer
Leigh Howard

Distributor WhiteGold Solutions has added LogRhythm to its stable of security vendors in the Australia and New Zealand market.

"We had a gap and LogRhythm fits in nicely," said Leigh Howard, commercial director for WhiteGold Solutions. "We always look for newcomers – fast growing, challenger brands."

Howard told CRN that while the distie has recently expanded to areas such as data centres and mobility, LogRhythm's products add to its bread-and-butter portfolio of security.

WhiteGold Solutions already boasts Kaspersky, Fortinet, and Sourcefire in its security catalogue.

"We have an ecosystem of security vendors that are complementary. We ensure there are no conflicts and not too much overlap between the different providers," Howard told CRN.

"We liked that LogRhythm is a specialised vendor that concentrates on a focused area of security."

LogRhythm is known for its security information and event management (SIEM) product but has added host forensic capabilities to take it to the "next generation of SIEM", said Mike Reagan, chief marketing officer of LogRhythm.

"We automate the discovery of what is 'normal' behaviour," Reagan told CRN. "Once you establish a baseline of normalcy, you can have a behavioural whitelist."

"You can then have several thresholds before an alert goes out when a combination of events warrant action. This collaborative approach weeds out false negatives."

LogRhythm's ANZ director of sales, Simon Howe, told CRN that the vendor's ANZ business is "100 percent channel" and he is "excited in the potential" after the signing of WhiteGold.

"We have a partner programme that we'll bring over from overseas," said Howe.

"While our current resellers are mostly security specialists, we hope that distribution through WhiteGold will broaden our channel."

Reagan said that the US vendor is now 11 years old – almost as long as the concept of SIEM itself. After expanding to the EMEA market in 2008, LogRhythm's ANZ operations started this year with the hiring of Howe.
