Network security vendor WatchGuard Technologies has appointed Luke Skinner as its first dedicated channel and distribution manager for Australia and New Zealand.
Skinner joins from Ingram Micro, where he last worked as business unit manager in the distie’s software business unit on Trend Micro, McAfee and Symantec.
The move was revealed on LinkedIn, and WatchGuard country manager Mark Sinclair confirmed the appointment with CRN.
Posting on the social networking site, Skinner confirmed his departure from Ingram Micro with a thank you note:
“A little over four years and my second stint at Ingram Micro Australia comes to a close today,” Skinner said.
“Upon reflection, I feel extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside and manage such an array of talent. In addition to the coaching and mentorship that was afforded to me along my journey.
“Thank you Ingram Micro. I wish each of you all the very best!”
Speaking on Skinner’s appointment, Sinclair said he was chosen for his many years of experience working in distribution.
“Luke will be managing our ANZ distributors: Exclusive Networks, Bluechip Infotech, Leader Computers, Exeed, Dicker Data NZ and inTechnology,” Sinclair said.
“He will also be responsible for driving the A/NZ renewal revenue and helping recruit new channel partners.”
Sinclair added WatchGuard is “seriously looking” at expanding its channel management team to manage its “growing numbers of partners”. He said it would be likely to happen at the end of this year.
Skinner first joined Ingram Micro in the United Kingdom in 2003, before moving to Australia in 2009 to work at distie WhiteGold Solutions, now part of Exclusive Networks. He later joined Ingram Micro Australia in 2010 for a one-year stint, departing for resellers CSW-IT in 2012 and Next Technologies in 2014. He returned to Ingram in 2015.
