Automation and DevOps specialist Vibrato has been acquired by data and analytics consultant Servian to form what they claim to be the largest privately owned pure play data consulting firm in Australia.

The “multi-million dollar” deal combines two AWS, Google Cloud and Azure partners, with Vibrato’s 50 staff adding to Servian’s total headcount to 400.

As part of the deal, Servian also acquired a 40 percent stake in Vibrato sister company and cloud visibility software business Hava.

Vibrato co-founder Peter Gatt joins Servian as a partner, while the other co-founder James Martelletti will continue leading Hava.

“This deal will help us move customers more quickly and efficiently to the cloud,” Servian founder and chief executive Tony Nicol said. “Every business we speak to is trying to realise that vision.”

Headquartered in Sydney, Servian specialises in digital delivery, artificial intelligence and cloud migration. It also helps enterprise customers draw insights from their data. Melbourne-based Vibrato helps clients get products to market.

“We’re focused on tackling complex problems to make people’s lives easier every day. It’s about getting ideas into production as quickly as possible,” Gatt said.

“We talked to other interested parties but Servian felt like the best cultural fit. Both of our company’s clients are gaining access to a broader set of specialist skills.”

Both companies have small presences in various overseas markets, but Servian said geographic expansion is expected to ramp up as it looks to expand its presence in New Zealand and the United Kingdom within the year.

Vibrato won the Digital Transformation award at the inaugural CRN IMPACT Awards in 2017, for deploying a big data and analytics platform on AWS to deliver insights for energy companies CitiPower and Powercor.
