Unixpac to distribute ArcSight

Three years after first forming a relationship, Unixpac has finally signed on to distribute ArcSight’s flagship product, ArcSight Enterprise Security Management (ESM).

ArcSight ESM is based on an Oracle database engine and allows organisations to manage information risk and protect data.

The product also collects, stores and monitors security event data; and delivers compliance reporting, monitor, respond and mitigate risk.

Tom Piotrowski, managing director of Unixpac said the niche distributor was first introduced to ArcSight in 2003, but had adopted a “wait-and-see strategy” towards the vendor.

“We have been in discussion with them since 2003 to distribute ESM. However back then ArcSight was just a start-up company,” he said.

“At the time the product was support intensive and we wanted to wait until it matured before we took it on.”

With the deal, Unixpac becomes the sole Australian distributor for ArcSight, Piotrowski said. Previously the vendor sold to customers outside of the US, direct.

ArcSight also works with over 100 security vendors including TippingPoint, Check Point, Fortinet and WebSense, to develop plug-in connectivity to all of their security products, said Piotrowski.
