According to Forbes Magazine’s 2009 list of the world’s billionaires, Bill Gates is not only the richest man in IT, he is the wealthiest man on the planet, with a net worth of $40bn. The Gates coffers took a bit of a hammering over the past 12 months, however, dropping by $18bn on last year’s figure. But that was nothing compared to the hit taken by last year’s top billionaire, financier Warren Buffet, who saw his net worth shrink from $62bn to $37bn, giving him the number-two spot.
