Telstra starts selling new wearables range

Telstra has begun selling a new range of wearables including Fitbit across its 370 brick-and-mortar stores.

Ten devices are available to purchase immediately, including Fitbit Surge, Flex and Charge HR, Jawbone UP Move, Samsung Gear Fit, Huawei Talkband B2, Garmin Vivosmart and Striiv Fusion. The carrier plans to add two more devices by 6 September.

Telstra is the first telco in Australia to offer a "complete range of wearable devices", claimed devices director Andrew Volard.

Telstra also sells wearables via its online store, and is offering customers with existing Go Mobile plans the option to pay off a wearable over 12 or 24 months.

Meanwhile, Optus sells the Samsung Gear S on a combined or separate data plan, as well as the Jawbone UP24. Vodafone sells the Samsung Gear Fit bundled with a data plan and Galaxy S5 phone.
