Bob Plaschke CEO of Sonim, claims the XP3 is the world’s first waterproof phone which can be used 10ft underwater
Following on from the Sonim XP1 it is designed to meet the needs of plumbers, builders, construction workers, surfers, rock climbers and outdoor enthusiasts.
“We will be launching in Australia in November through Crazy John’s,“ said Plaschke.
“The XP3 is for people who work or play in extreme conditions. The XP1 was the baseline for serving people in this market but then customers came back to us and said they wanted us to do more so we took it up a notch.
“This is the first submersible phone ever developed. You can drop it from 20 storeys high or take it underwater for more than half an hour under 10 feet of water.’” He added.
Plaschke said the phone will be distributed exclusively through Crazy John’s in conjunction with Brightpoint.
“Over the last two months, we have sold more phones in Australia than we have in any other country in the same period of time. We focus on the trade groups who recognise we have built a phone for them that doesn’t break and has a three year guarantee,” said Plaschke.
