CypherStream is based on Senetas' CypherNet technology, and contains essentially the same IP (encryption and key management) developed by the vendor in Melbourne, said John DuBois, CEO at Senetas, in an interview with CRN.
According to DuBois, a pair of devices is needed to encrypt point-to-point networks, or more can be interconnected to secure a meshed network.
"It is a plug and play device that runs at up to 10 Mbps in IPSec mode and is controlled by the same CypherManager console," he said.
"The product is fully interoperable with our high speed enterprise Encryption Security Platform running at up to 10 Gbps."
DuBois claimed that CypherStream 10Mbps was switchable and could run in both a Layer 2 and 3 mode.
It also features Quantum Encryption technology, now capable of running at up to 10Gbps line speed and includes accredited fibre channel encryptor running at 1/2/4Gbps to secure data which normally travels 'in the clear' between Storage Area Networks (SANs
He said CypherStream will enable its resellers to sell into the Middle East and selected countries in South East Asia and provides customised algorithms in a switchable device.
"The customised version of CypherStrean potentially opens markets for Senetas in Singapore, India and Vietnam," he said.
"These are economies through our resellers have specifically inquired about the encryption platform.
According to DuBois, the vendor has also added Korean SEED and Japanese Camellia algorithm capability, which gives Senetas access to these previously closed information security market places."
