Senatas Corporation has released CypherStream, a smaller desktop form factor encryption platform, interoperable with the developer’s CypherNet platform, said Senatas CEO John DuBois.
“CypherStream had been specifically designed to provide a secure connection between low-speed branch office networks and head offices where high speed CypherNet devices can manage more than 500 CypherStream simultaneous secure sessions,” said DuBois.
According to DuBois, Senatas has expectations for CypherStream for both its direct and channel sales. “It targets a different market segment, opening up new geographies and also offers a customised algorithm option.”
CyberStream is built with switchable network capability and will initially be offered as a Layer 2 Ethernet device running at 10 Mbps, although it can also secure IP networks, claims DuBois. The product uses standard AES 128/256 bit encryption algorithms, and can be optioned with customised algorithms to also suit customers across Asia, India and the Middle East.
According to Dubois the product release is initially targeted at low speed links – up to 10Mbps – and Senatas chose to develop this product in a small desktop form factor, rather than the usual 19 inch rack mounted form.
“Size doesn’t limit performance of CypherStream, and we will be following up this device with one capable of achieving throughput of several hundred Mbps,” claims Dubois.
