Samsung Wave to hit shelves mid-year

Samsung has launched its latest smartphone device the Samsung Wave, equipped with the vendor's new open mobile platform dubbed Samsung Bada.

Bada allows users to download applications from Samsung Apps, the vendor's first application store.

Featuring a 3.3 inch colour display screen, the device features an AMOLED display - the same technology used in Samsung's LCD TV and LED TVs.

The vendor claimed the AMOLED display offered brighter and less reflective screens.

"The Samsung Wave demonstrates our commitment to deliver fantastic multimedia experiences for everyone and we're very excited to bring this offering to market," said Tyler McGee, vice president, Telecommunications, Samsung Electronics Australia.

Along with the 1Ghz processor, the Samsung Wave features Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi 802.11n standard - both incorporated by Samsung for the first time.

Samsung also introduced the "Social Hub" integrating email services, instant messaging and social networking sites directly into the Samsung Wave.

Samsung Wave will be available in Australia mid-year. Pricing and distribution was unavailable at the time of publication.
