RSA to host SecurID Access locally in Microsoft Azure's datacentre in Canberra

Security vendor RSA has launched local hosting for its identity and access management product SecurID Access through Microsoft’s data centre in Canberra.

Hosting the solution locally aims to give RSA access to more Australian and New Zealand organisations, particularly in government and financial services, while also looking to improve performance and minimise downtime of critical cloud applications.

The Canberra-based datacentre was chosen due to its specialisation with critical infrastructure and is accredited for handling secret defence classified data.

“RSA Security is extremely committed to Australia, New Zealand and our local customers. This is an important market for RSA that we will continue to invest in to provide our local customers with the very best technology and services,” RSA Australia and New Zealand identity solutions manager Craig Dore said.

“As more business and data moves into the cloud, and as legislation becomes tougher, security – especially ID and access – is becoming a top priority for organisations. We are happy that we can now offer more Australian organisations access to our identity and access management solution to help overcome these challenges to remain secure and productive.”

RSA said hosting locally can improve network latency for local customers and align services maintenance to Australian business hours from US or European timezones.

The vendor said clients using the solution included Data#3 and UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation.

“As a supporter of the RSA SecurID Cloud Authentication Service, the new RSA deployment of the service into Microsoft Azure Australia Central opens up new options with locally hosted and secure authentication services,” Data#3 national manager for information systems Bruce Waldron said.
