Reseller Mwave follows Amazon, eBay's lead with premium membership

Online IT reseller Mwave has launched its mVIP membership program, following the lead of Amazon Prime and the recently announced eBay Plus programs.

The program will give customers access to exclusive discounts and $15 off shipping on orders valued from $150 and above for the introductory rate of $69 per year, or $89 per year thereafter.

“Keeping our customers satisfied with great prices as well as high-quality services at Mwave is always one of our key focuses,” Mwave chief executive Victor Lee said.

“The mVIP program will allow us to further extend our ability to look after our loyal customers with a premium package.”

The reseller said members would also get a price guarantee whenever a product’s price dropped, with the price difference refunded to their account as Mwave credit if the drop was within two days of the purchase.

The program also offers priority warranty processing and free shipping on eligible warranty claims.

Earlier this week, eBay announced its $49-per-year eBay Plus subscription service, offering customers free deliveries on 15 million eligible products.

Meanwhile Amazon said in February that it will be bringing its popular Amazon Prime service in Australia in “mid-2018”.

Mwave posted $72.6 million in revenue for the year ending 30 June 2017, up $23 million or 48 percent year over year. Net profits also ballooned to $1.4 million, up 580 percent from $205,900 in the year prior.
