In support of its JBoss offering in the region, Red Hat has appointed a number of new JBoss Advanced Partners, including Base Two, Axe Group and OpenSoft.
Max McLaren, general manager for Red Hat Australia and New Zealand told CRN that Red Hat acquired JBoss approximately 12 months ago, but JBoss did not have a presence in the A/NZ market, despite the wide usage of JBoss as an underlying application server for many applications in production.
“We have found in this time that customers realise the value of ensuring their middleware is supported, and have started to demand more and more services, like training and implementation services from us and our partners,” he said.
However the vendor was now seeing a significant amount of interest from users in telecommunications, banking and finance, insurance and public sectors.
“The infrastructure we now have in place will enable us to more quickly respond to this market demand and offer an exceptional customer support experience," he said.
According to MacLean with support often cited as a key concern for CIOs when it comes to adopting open source, the new partnerships offer customers an added level of confidence when they choose JBoss Enterprise Middleware.
“We have found customers often use only a fraction of the capability they are paying significant license and support costs for. JBoss allows customers to free up these capital and operating costs and deploy them elsewhere, often redirecting them to the applications these middleware products are supporting," he said.
With better support partners can leverage these freed up funds for the applications and services customers require, said MacLaren
