RBA seeks managed service provider for enterprise data platform

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is on the hunt for a managed service provider to support its Enterprise Data Platform (EDP).

Australia's central bank has released a request for proposal (RFP), in which it seeks a "value-for-money" contract for the ongoing management and maintenance of its critical data infrastructure.

The RBA is looking for a provider to manage a suite of data technologies including:

  • IBM InfoSphere Information Server
  • Cloudera Data Platform and Cloudera Machine Learning
  • Microsoft Azure SQL MI
  • Microsoft PowerBI
  • Posit
  • Tableau

The successful respondent will be responsible for providing a seamless transition, ensuring no disruption to the Bank’s operations.

Flexibility and adaptability are also crucial, as the service must be able to meet evolving business needs and adapt to technological advancements throughout the contract.

The RBA also requires that the managed service maintains integration with its asset register.

This will ensure accurate configuration data and compliance with relevant statutory obligations such as data location and privacy.

The initial contract is for a period of 36 months, with an option for two 12-month extensions at the Bank’s discretion.

A comprehensive and transparent pricing structure is also expected to enable engagement for ad-hoc project services.

While the RBA aims to leverage the chosen respondent's organisation as much as possible, the bank stated that the provider will not be granted exclusivity for the procurement of managed services for the EDP.

Collaboration with other RBA technology partners is also essential.

The deadline for the RFP submission is by 2 pm Sydney time on March 7 2025.
