Raymond Maisano moves from VMware to lead Cloudflare ANZ

Cloudflare has appointed a new leader for its Australian and New Zealand operations.

That leader is Raymond Maisano, formerly head of VMware Australia’s security business, then its cloud foundation product. He’s also a former general manager of networking and servers at HPE.

Cloudflare’s popped out a first-person blog post to announce his move, and in it Maisano said during his time at VMware he found himself “working with some of Cloudflare’s biggest A/NZ customers.” During those engagements he was “confronted with the full extent of the security challenges that A/NZ businesses face. I recognised that there must be a better way to help customers secure their local and multi-cloud environments. That's how I found Cloudflare.”

The post goes on to say Maisano is “truly looking forward to helping Cloudflare grow its reach over the next five years” and is hiring to make that happen.

But a company spokesperson told CRN “In terms of hires, we're not able to provide a concrete number at this point, but plan for moderate growth.”

The spokesperson also told us that channel recruitment will be on Maisano’s to-do list.

“Cloudflare is looking for Value Added Resellers, Managed Service Providers and Systems Integrators. All of these types of partners play a different and important role in the ecosystem.”

In other Cloudflare news, the company recently picked itself a new slogan. It's "The network is the computer", which many readers will recognise as the slogan of the long-dead Sun Microsystems. Cloudflare knows this and has explained that the slogan's heritage is one of the things that made it more attractive, and that it is as apt as ever!
