Queensland Rail seeks SAP specialists for ERP program

Queensland Rail has released a tender seeking to establish a partnership with one or two suppliers for the provision of the specialist SAP roles for the duration of its ERP Program.

Queensland Rail's ERP system, an SAP solution implemented in 2004, will reach the end of mainstream maintenance support by the end of 2027.

The ERP Program has been established to address technical risk and migrate in a cost-sensitive manner the current legacy ECC6 system to the new future-focused SAP S4 solution.

The program is also designed to extract value from the program where it does not drive excessive cost or complexity, including seeking to lay the foundations for Queensland Rail to achieve a Product Level Reporting capability; lay the foundations for future growth and scalability; and align the ERP Implementation Program to the broader transformation and change initiatives across Queensland Rail.

Queensland Rail has internal capability responsible for the business-as-usual operation, maintenance and support of the existing SAP solution, but additional specialist SAP design roles are required to support and enable the ERP Program.

Specifically, these roles are responsible for defining how enterprise systems and processes will operate in the future; providing expert guidance to business unit managers; leading solution design decisions; and demanding deep technical and design knowledge (SAP S/4HANA) that does not currently exist in the current Queensland Rail workforce.

These will generally be engagements ranging from 6 to 24 months, subject to the program schedule and will cover all stages of the program lifecycle through options analysis, design, implementation, finalisation and handover to business-as-usual.

Queensland Rail is also preparing a tender for a Systems Implementation partner for the ERP Program that is scheduled to be released in early 2026. To maintain probity, suppliers who are successfully awarded contracts to this tender will not be eligible to respond to subsequent tenders related to Queensland Rail’s ERP Program.

The tender closes 3 August 2025 at 5:00PM.
