NETWORKING

Blade Network releases VMready technology and a converged switch

Data-centre networking vendor Blade Network Technologies has released a VMready feature that lets Blade’s switches work with VMware vCenter Server to manage vNetwork distributed virtual switches.

VMready provides the identification and network configuration for each virtual machine. It tracks virtual machines as they migrate and reconfigures the network in real-time to ensure security and access is always maintained.

The vendor also claims to have released the first “pure play”, converged enhanced Ethernet top-of-rack switch at under US$500 ($561) per 10 Gigabit Ethernet port. The switch lets customers with IP storage networks add fibre channel over Ethernet without replacing existing iSCSI and NAS storage. Blade's RackSwitch G8124 carries the VMready feature.
