Enterprise portal software specialist Plumtree Software has initiated a channel drive and would look to recruit an extra five partners over the next six months.
Dean Stockwell, MD for Plumtree's Asia-Pacific operation, said while over the past four years, the company was solely focused on driving software licenses through the channel, it was looking to drive services sales and needed partners to help it get there.
"We feel that we're in a position where we can help most partners understand the value of a portal," he said.
The company had four existing partners in Australia - Volante, Portal Insight, Collaborative Technologies and Pretzel Logic.
"We want to bring on another five in the next six months with one in the government space," he said.
State and Federal government clients were responsible for between 40 and 50 percent of the company's business in Australia. Government customers included the NSW Department of Commerce, ACT Emergency Services and Queensland Rail.
Stockwell said the company was "putting together a matrix" to identify industries and partners would be best fit its model. These partners would have national coverage and the ability to penetrate specific verticals such as retail and utilities, he said.
He added that the company needed a team of developers that could develop the web services that integrate enterprise and web applications.
"Our intention is that 80 percent of our licensing and services business will go through the channel," he said. That number was around 40 percent today, he added.
The company had 15 active customers in Australia and the majority of its Asia-Pacific business was being driven out of Australia, Stockwell said.
Plumtree recently appointed Adam Walters as its new partner enablement manager.
