The FreeAgent family includes desktop and mobile options, for Mac and Windows operated PCs to back up, share and protect digital content like photos, videos and music.
The flagship offering includes the FreeAgent Go portable storage solution, external drive, FreeAgent Go portable drive, FreeAgent Desk external drive and the FreeAgent XTreme external drive.
The company has also launched the Maxtor BlackArmour solution, which is a portable storage device.
“Seagate is proud to launch its new range of FreeAgent drives catering to people in all walks of life from home users for the storage and backup of photos, music and movies, Soho businesses with fast, secure drives up to 1.5TB and corporate users who require a secure storage solution for sensitive data with the Maxtor BlackArmour encrypted drive,” said Henk Van den Berg, sales director for South Asia & A/NZ.
“The new drives are easy to use and easy on the eye, not sacrificing style for function. We see a real opportunity for our retail partners as consumers and professionals alike realise the importance of backing up their information to ensure they are protected against the loss of their precious memories and valuable documents and data.”
Seagate FreeAgent drives are compatible with Windows Vista and Windows XP and come equipped with Seagate Manager software, that provides scheduled automated back-ups and multi-computer synchronization.
The FreeAgent drives for Windows offers security as a software-based AES-256bit encryption and Seagate DrivePass password protection. It also comes with a five-year warranty.
“The first FreeAgent storage solution offering, introduced in 2007, unquestionably made a mark for Seagate in the consumer space, demonstrating that hard drives can be designed to provide a stylish complement to a computing environment,” said Pat King, senior vice president Seagate’s Consumer Solutions Division.
“This second-generation of FreeAgent storage solutions takes the extra step of providing easy-to-use technology in a consumer-friendly package,” added King.
