Panasonic signs Avnet distribution deal

Panasonic has signed a new distribution agreement with Avnet for its range of Toughbook notebooks, laptops and accessories.

Avnet will join existing Toughbook distributor Multimedia Technology (MMT). Toughbook group manager Marc Amelung said the company has been looking for a distributor to replace J Mills following its sale to Sektor Distribution earlier this year.

He said Avnet offered the professional skillset needed to support dealers’ sales objectives and guarantee customer satisfaction.

Avnet will distribute the entire Toughbook range, including the FZ-G1 and the JB-T1 tablets which were launched earlier this year. The FZ-G1 is a rugged 10.1-inch tablet operating on Windows 8, while the JB-T1 is a durable 7-inch tablet running Android 4.0.

Panasonic is the second major brand signed by distributor Avnet in recent months. In October the company announced it had signed an agreement with Asus to distribute its motherboards and graphic cards in Australia.
