Optus launches advanced threat service based on Palo Alto Networks

Optus Business has partnered with Palo Alto Networks to offer managed advanced threat prevention (ATP) services.

The detection and prevention capabilities are part of the Optus managed security services portfolio. The ATP services will operate on Palo Alto Networks' next-generation security platform, which includes the security vendor's next-gen firewall, threat intelligence cloud and advanced endpoint protection.

Organisations will be able to implement technology initiatives within the cloud and mobile networks without compromising visibility and control, according to a statement.

The service – a collaboration between Singtel, Optus and Palo Alto Networks – monitors, isolates and prevents suspicious applications from breaching organisations' networks or endpoint devices.

According to Optus, both companies will work on the development of future technology security services.

"Our enhanced managed security services are complemented by Palo Alto Networks innovative technologies and support Australian businesses and government agencies with services they need to operate confidently in the digital and global market."

Optus arch-rival Telstra revealed earlier this year that it was planning to add Palo Alto Networks firewall technology to its Cloud Gateway Protection offering, which commenced with Cisco technology when it premiered at Cisco Live.
