Optima purchase on cards for Pioneer Computers
Pioneer is also in talks with Optima customer, the NSW Department of Correctional Services, to help them with the servicing of their Optima products.

In an exclusive interview with CRN, Pioneer Computers managing director, Jeff Li, said Moore Stephens, the administrator for embattled Australian PC manufacturer Optima, was sending him a sales package for the company.

“The administrator for Optima is sending us a package for the whole company including the store, customer and warranty base. We are are talking to a finance company about partnering together to purchase Optima, but no deal is being confirmed yet,” said Li.

He claimed Pioneer was seriously looking at buying the company, but it wasn’t going to be an easy decision and it was still early days on an official decision. “We have to look a lot into the details and it’s not an easy decision,” said Li.

While Li makes up his mind over Optima, the embattled white-box builder’s customers and service agents were calling Pioneer for help with the servicing of Optima products.

“Ever since people found we were helping with Optima’s warranties, we have been getting calls every day from customers and service agents for help. Recently Optima customer the NSW Department of Corrective Services called us to help with them the servicing of 6000 Optima PCs,” claimed Li.

According to Li, Pioneer is aware of where most of Optima’s box parts have come from and would would have no issue with replacing these parts.

“We will have to charge a handling fee for the freight and the time we spent sourcing the product. Most customers know this and are okay with that because at least they know the computer can be fixed,” he said.

Li said Pioneer was also in talks with Optima manufactuer, Quantan, for the supply of products for Optima boxes. Any customers needing servicing will be able to go to Dreamcare.com.au that has an Optima brand slot setup online.

“We have already signed agreements with some Optima service agents. Every day we have Optima customers and service agents coming to us for help. We are trying to help them out, because even though we didn’t want this to happen, it has,” said Li.
