Optima 'end' sees more clients for Centrix
Optima Technology Solutions, had the administrators called in by parent company Optima ICM Limited, on 24 July.

Peter Kelly, director of IT service provider, Centrix told CRN that his business has “picked up some work” from the white-box builder.

“We have some extra work from a couple of Optima’s clients,” he said.

“I know there’s a lot more out there, as well.”

Kelly said Optima’s clients started calling two or three weeks after it called in the administrators.

“I know it had a skeleton staff, but customers have realised there’s no longer a light at the end of the tunnel,” he claimed.

According to Kelly, Centrix has picked up customers from various verticals including; sports and leisure; and engineering.

"Receiving extra work from Optima's clients wasn't one of my first thoughts, when I heard about its demise."

Kelly said he was not surprised at Optima’s fate, but the speed of which it happened has come as a shock.

“It was a well known [Australian] brand in the computer space,” he said.

“I always thought it might struggle against top-tier vendors in the hardware space. However the speed of its end was surprising.”

Kelly doesn’t believe any other companies will ever take over from Optima, although there could be another local white-box builder just “around the corner”.
