NextDC tapped to host Infinidat enterprise storage

Cloud storage platform Infinidat has enlisted Australia’s NextDC as its colocation partner for the storage-as-a-service company's advance on the ANZ market.

The US-storage vendor was founded in 2011 and, in 2013, began shipping enterprise data storage systems to data centres around the world. The company revealed plans for its global push earlier this year, announcing offices in major cities throughout Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.

Infinidat ANZ general manager Mark Brown, formerly of NEC Australia, said partnering with NextDC gave his team the opportunity to demonstrate what the company could do for potential customers.

“The Infinidat STaaS platform provides the storage performance, capacity and resiliency that enable cloud storage providers to provide extremely efficient and reliable data storage capacities,” he said.

NextDC channel head Steve Martin said Infinidat would benefit from the strength of the data centres’ partner ecosystem.

“This relationship will allow our partners to leverage innovative Infinidat storage products to complement and extend their own unique offerings,” he said.

In September, former EMC sales manager James Byrne was tapped by Infinidat to become country manager for the company’s Australia and New Zealand drive. Byrne is based in Infinidat’s Melbourne office.

Byrne said Infinidat has already signed three partners in Melbourne, one in Sydney and two in Perth.

Arrow is Infinidat's distributor in Australia and New Zealand.

NextDC and Infinidat will be hosting launch events for the STaaS offering in Sydney and Melbourne at the end of October.
