Nexion Group has sold its Perth-based W1 data centre to a Canadian company, Carrier Connect Data Solutions, for $2.5 million.
Initially announced in May, the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)-listed company purchased the company that owns the data centre, Nexion W1 DC Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Nexion Group.
Nexion Group is an ASX -listed company that provides networking, cloud, and cybersecurity solutions to customers across Australia and New Zealand.
Terms of the sale include a $200,000 payment on close of the deal and $100,000 six months after closing.
The $2.2m balance will be paid via a secured financing arrangement with 9% interest with monthly payments calculated over a 25 year term, but with a final balance payment of approximately $2 million made at the end of five years.
Carrier Connect will also pay Nexion $120,000 a year for daily data centre operations and maintenance tasks and cover any operating costs.
The W1 data centre is a 2 megawatt facility located in Belmont, Perth, which Nexion purchased from Datacom in 2018.
Nexion will continue to invoice its customers, paying wholesale rental rates to Carrier Connect for the space it occupies within the data centre.
A statement from the Nexion board said it was ”very pleased” with the outcome.
“The sale represents a significant milestone for Nexion, enabling the Company to strengthen its financial position and apply greater focus on its core network and software businesses," the statement said.
Carrier Connect was previously known as Hopefield Ventures Two Inc, becoming Carrier Connect Data Solutions following the acquisition of Carrier Connect Systems in early-2025.
It has a stated goal of buying tier two and three data centres internationally with the Perth data centre marking the first such acquisition outside of its home city of Vancouver, Canada.
