Newest flash storage vendor enlists Aussie resellers

Specialised storage vendor Tintri has signed another Australian partner, with integrator RXP Services joining its channel.

"Both RXP and Tintri are investing to grow market share and reach in the Asia Pacific region and this alliance provides us both with exciting opportunities," said RXP's CEO and managing director Ross Fielding.

The publicly listed company said in a statement to the ASX that it and Tintri will "jointly deliver virtualised cloud environments with a particular focus on satisfying needs in the private and hybrid cloud domain".

The development follows Tintri's launch in February and designation of BEArena as its "signature partner" in Australia and New Zealand. Melbourne-based Southern Cross Computer Systems was also known to be a foundation reseller. Neither reseller has yet publicly revealed its first Tintri customer.

Tintri's flash storage technology is specifically designed for virtualised environments.

"Tintri addresses the mismatch between storage and virtualisation with the industry's first application-aware storage, which sees how applications behave at the VM level and learns and adapts," said RXP's statement.

Peter Molloy, Tintri's vice president of APAC sales said: "It's often quoted that storage is 60 percent of the cost of a virtualisation solution."

"In today's economic environment that model is no longer acceptable," said Molloy. "However, a Tintri solution completely disrupts that paradigm."

The Californian vendor announced earlier this month support for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualisation to add to its long-time support for VMware.

RXP Services has five offices around Australia and one in Hong Kong. It reported revenues of $30.2 million last year.
