NetSuite MD clarifies channel strategy

NetSuite's Asia Pacific managing director has told CRN that the company was not pulling back channel activities in Sydney and Melbourne, rejecting earlier statements.

Chris Schafer, APAC MD for NetSuite, said the company has "never been happier with the channel program".

"We are absolutely not pulling back any channel partner program in this area. We've just brought a partner in New Zealand and we've got 12 channel partners that we're looking at in Australia and two of those are in Sydney," he said.

NetSuite has seven partners Australia wide and is looking to grow that to 15, Ken Bartlett, channel director APAC, told CRN.

Earlier, Bartlett had said the company was "pulling back" channel activities in Sydney and Melbourne. He said that was not the case.

"At least eight to 10 will be in Sydney and Melbourne and five across the rest of Australia," he said.

Commenting on NetSuite's direct sales in Sydney and Melbourne, Schafer said, "I don't plan on expanding any head count. Our focus is 100 percent on the channel.

"Unfortunately in Australia we only have a partner presence in those two cities (Sydney and Melbourne), we've got one in Western Australia and Bartlett's goal is to increase our channel presence in all the areas we don't.

"His focus is to put partners in play where we don't have any right now," said Schafer.
