NetIQ has appointed Jay Gardner (pictured) as senior vice president and general manager of NetIQ.
Gardner is responsible for a range of tasks including engineering, product management, marketing, technical support, sales and operational functions.
Jeff Hawn, CEO of Attachmate, which acquired NetIQ in July 2006 said Jay's knowledge and experience both from a sales and operational standpoint is impressive.
"It will serve to provide deeper value and benefit to NetIQ customers," said Hawn. "We are equally enthused about what [he] will add to our company as a visionary, mentor and seasoned industry veteran."
Gardner joins NetIQ from his position as a venture advisor for US-based venture capitalist firm DFJ Mercury. He is also an 18-year BMC Software veteran, where he most recently served as vice president and general manager of the BMC On Demand business unit.
During his tenure, Gardner also served as CIO.
"Today's IT and security professionals face daunting tasks to deliver more services securely, improve efficiencies and minimise enterprise risk. I am excited to work with the NetIQ teams around the globe to optimise the experience and success our customers achieve with our solutions."
Before his time at BMC Software, Gardner spent ten years in various management and sales positions at IBM.
NetIQ is a systems and security management vendor.
