Previously Wayfinder has used Navteq maps in Russia, Singapore, Middle East and South Africa for Nokia N810 Internet Tablet which has a map application pre-installed by Wayfinder.
Rich Shuman, senior vice president of APAC sales at Navteq said Wayfinder has developed into a provider of GPS location and navigation services for connected mobile devices, with offices across Europe and over two million users stretching from North America to India.
“For its expansion into Australia and New Zealand, the company chose Navteq map data due to its excellent quality and coverage,” said Shuman. “Navteq data is built to global specification.”
Shuman said Navteq completed its full coverage of Australia in the summer of 2006; and since then has expanded its local coverage to New Zealand using the largest team of navigation geographic analysts in the region.
