Musical chairs among Eaton and Orange chiefs
Gordon Makryllos

Power management vendor Eaton has recruited Gordon Makryllos, the former local boss of Orange Business Services, as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand, while Orange has appointed a new Asia-Pacific lead.

“I look forward to working with our customers, partners and employees in providing organisations with a range of tailored products and related services  dedicated to ensuring that reliable, efficient and safe power is available when it’s needed most," said Makryllos, who will be based in Sydney.

Immediately prior to the new post, Makryllos was the general manager for giant integrator Orange Business Services' Australasian MD. He has also spent time at Schneider Electric, Telstra, Polycom and IBM, and holds an electrical engineering degree.

Meanwhile French multinational Orange made an announcement of its own, promoting Patrick Sim as its senior vice president for the Asia-Pacific.

“The region is an engine of global growth for Orange with huge demand for network expansion, cloud services, unified communications and customer experience solutions," said Sim. "We have made significant investments and partnerships in the Asia Pacific, and are positive about growing the business substantially in the coming years."

Sim has been at Orange for eight years as the Asia-Pacific vice president of sales and marketing.

Eaton is a manufacturer of technology and engineering-related power products, such as UPS systems. The company boasted sales of US$22 billion last year, and employs over 100,000 people.

Orange is a publicly listed company headquartered in Paris, with 159,000 employees. Orange Business Services claims a global reach of 220 countries with local support in more than 160.
