Australian communications and networking distributor Madison Technologies has acquired Victoria-based IoT manufacturer and distributor Shepelec Instrumentation for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition forms part of Madison Technologies’ plan to move into the development of IoT technologies, with the business and assets purchase including Shepelec’s flagship industrial IoT product, the MultiPar Multi-IO Device.
The MultiPar product is a cloud-based data logging platform that measures analogue, digital and serial devices and transmits data over a cellular network.
Madison Technologies managing director David Redfern said: “This acquisition aligns strongly with our goals for long-term evolutionary growth of our product and total solutions growth. The MultiPar product range is quite unique and in many ways is the missing link in providing a complete end to end total Industrial Ethernet of Things (IIoT) solution".
Shaun Smith, Madison’s general manager of industrial ITC said the MultiPar product offering already had a large customer base in the water metering sector.
“We will look to leverage off this solution for a wide range of industries such as smart cities, other utilities sectors, mining and transport,” he said.
“As the sector grows, and more applications for this technology are discovered, we expect the MultiPar to be a significant part of the IoT market moving forward.”
Madison Technologies has established a new business called mIoT, a wholly owned subsidiary that will focus on the design development and manufacture of IoT devices and solutions for multiple industry applications.
“By partnering with innovative companies, and bringing them the technology that will help transform their business, Madison Technologies will further cement its place in the specialist communications technology arena,” Redfern added.
