Logica and Cisco partner for smart grids

IT services provider Logica has partnered with Cisco to resell smart grid IP network design and infrastructure services to Australia’s energy and utilities companies.

As a Cisco authorised technology provider for Connected Grid, Logica planned to target energy and utilities that were planning network upgrades.

Cisco will also gain access to Logica’s client base, which includes 11 of Australia’s 13 energy network companies, seven of its eight gas companies, and Australia’s largest water utilities, according to the company.

Colin Holgate, chief executive of Logica Asia Pacific said Cisco approached it after the recent launch of its Connected Grid portfolio.

Cisco’s recently introduced Connected Grid portfolio covered energy management from delivery to the home, including smart grid substation automation, home consumption control tools and SCADA.

Logica has also partnered with Cisco for data centre, wireless and security products in the past.
