Proofpoint is a provider of unified email security, archiving, encryption and data loss prevention solutions.
The appointment of Lan 1 follows an expansion in the vendor’s suite of unified email security products, which defend against spam and viruses and prevent leaks of confidential and private information.
Gerry Tucker, regional head for Proofpoint in APAC said the appointment of Lan 1 as a distributor brings it national presence and extends support to a larger reseller base, particularly in Queensland and WA where the company previously had limited representation.
“Lan 1 also brings the ability to support our suite of unified email solutions on a national basis, meeting the needs of channel partners servicing distributed enterprises and government organisations,” he said.
According to Tucker, value added services offered by Lan 1 include providing product expertise, assisting in specifying the correct solution, and providing training, installation and support.
Daniel Lee, managing director for Lan 1 said the vendor allows it to broaden its reach in the enterprise and service provider space.
“Organisations and managed service providers are looking for complete email security solutions with a common management interface,” said Lee.
“That gives our partners an opportunity to provide value above and beyond offering point solutions.”
He claimed Proofpoint’s flexible deployment model, that includes hardware appliance, virtual appliance, Software-as-a-Service and hybrid solutions, also factored in the distributor’s decision to partner with the vendor.
“Flexibility is important,” said Lee.
“It gives us an edge over competitive solutions, particularly with managed service providers.”
Proofpoint and Lan 1 are organising a four city road-show in October to educate reseller partners and their customers about unified email security, archiving, encryption and data loss prevention solutions and the benefits of a flexible deployment model.
