A New Zealand-developed cloud-based knowledge management and collaboration solution for IT managed services providers went global at the recent Connectwise IT Nation conference held in Orlando Florida.
The solution, called Stella, was developed by New Zealand IT managed services company CodeBlue and spun off into a separate company.
Stella was used to support more than 10,000 CodeBlue customer users around New Zealand. Stella is purpose-designed for IT managed services companies.
"Stella delivers four key things that MSPs really need," Stella co-founder and executive director Ken Davis said. "That’s site documentation with full version control, a client specific knowledge base engine, a customer self service portal, and a very sophisticated and effective reporting/BI solution for customers".
Davis told CRN: "We are just in the process of beginning implementation of our first Australian site. We think Stella is particularly relevant to the Australia IT services market where there are a large number of small to mid-sized IT services providers."
Davis said that the payoff from using Stella is both measurable and immediate with first call service desk resolution is now up over 80 percent. "This is due to the speed and ease with which site documentation can be kept updated, providing a foundation for a knowledge base which is equally fast and intuitive to use," he added.
With pilot customers already up and running in the US. It is fully established as a standalone company separate from CodeBlue, with a full time development team of five plus sales and management staff.
Stella has not yet decided on a channel strategy. "Stella is a cloud solution, so at this stage we are looking to provision and support customers online. We are still thinking through the channel strategy and we are very open to channel partnerships, added Davis.
