Internode signs $2.2M SA govt contract

The South Australian Government has signed Internode to continue providing Internet access for the State's 70,000 public servants for the next three years.

Under the $2.2 million agreement, Internode plans to provide redundant fibre optic links, with bandwidth capacity of 1GBit/s to the SA Government's Internet Gateway.

Daryl Knight, Internode national sales manager said the agreement was part of SA Government’s ICT procurement process. Internode has been supplying services to the SA government for more than 12 years but was required to resubmit a tender.

“Previously we supplied the state with Internet access, but had to resubmit for SA’s tender for new services,” he said.

“We have a long standing relationship with the state government and are very happy for it to continue.”

Its ability to meet the SA Government's high standards was based on its service-oriented culture and its carrier-grade national network which has high-capacity links to the US, said Patrick Conlon, South Australia's Infrastructure Minister.

The carrier has also put in a bid for the state government’s latest tender for the supply of services in voice, data, mobile services.

“We are putting forward a bid to supply data services we have deployed ADSL 2+ for Adelaide and regional Australia already. We do have VoIP offerings but we picked the one we have a good chance of winning,” said Knight.
