SAP and Intel have teamed up to get RFID data directly into backend systems.
The vendors showed a method at Europe's CeBIT expo. But it still left open the RFID implementation method of using device-management partners.
SAP and Intel said the collaborative solution could pave the way for plug-and-play RFID environments.
"Companies can implement the solution on any Intel-based RFID backend hardware such as servers and front-end hardware such as desktops, notebooks and RFID readers regardless of provider," the firms stated.
"Intel will also supply the necessary technology to allow for a device-management solution to be delivered through the SAP NetWeaver platform."
The Intel-SAP approach tried to provide more intelligence from the reader hardware and develop seamless integration for system architectures, such as SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure.
Companies would be able to better control hardware combinations made up of sensors and actors working with RFID reader hardware, the firms claimed.
