Intel has promoted Australia and New Zealand sales manager Philip Cronin to general manager for Intel in Australasia, replacing David Bolt in the country manager role.
Intel Corporation Asia Pacific named Cronin country manager for Australia and New Zealand. He had been area sales manager for the past three years. 'In this role he focused on growing Intel's revenue within the Australian and New Zealand IT channel,' an Intel statement said.
A replacement for Cronin -- who has been with Intel for six years -- in the pivotal channel sales role is yet to be announced.
As general manager for Australasia, Cronin will manage operations for local divisions, including overseeing sales and marketing for computers and communications and consulting services, Intel said.
Cronin's immediate superior will be business management and marketing director Chak Wong at Intel Asia Pacific. 'Philip has shown outstanding leadership implementing local channel programs and driving sales campaigns for our flagship Pentium 4 processor and Centrino Mobile Technology products in the Australian and New Zealand markets. These same leadership skills will serve him well in his new role,' Wong said.
Wong said former country manager Bolt was leaving Intel to pursue 'new personal challenges'.
'David has played an integral role in Intel's growth in the Australian and New Zealand markets over the past seven years, leading the company's successful push into new markets and technologies. We wish him well,' Wong said.
