Ingram lays off staff after fall in half-yearly results

CRN has learned that several staff  members have been made redundant effective yesterday, although no official confirmation has been made.

Ingram Micro told CRN that an official announcement would be made today.

Ingram Micro has not revealed which areas of its business has made the staff cuts, but CRN has been told that at least one redundancy was from the marketing department.

Ingram Micro's weaker fourth quarter results were partially attributed to weaker regional currencies, which counted for approximately 10 percent of the 23 percent drop in Asia Pacific sales.

The rest of the decline was because of softer demand across most of the region's economies, combined with proactive efforts to turn away or exit unprofitable business, said Ingram Micro.

The performance of the Australian arm was not released as Ingram Micro does not break down financial results by country.
