Infraserve helps CorePlus set up shop Down Under

US virtualisation vendor CorePlus has launched down under, with the help of data centre operator Infraserve.

The relationship comes as a result of Infraserve’s partnership with CA Technologies for a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offering powered by CA’s AppLogic.

Infraserve’s PaaS offering launched last October and enables ISVs to host software as well as become SaaS providers. CorePlus CEO Marc Landry said Australia was an untapped goldmine for products like CorePlus’ cloud management platform, a middle management layer that sits on top of Infraserve’s infrastructure.

“Australia is a hotbed for cloud services, there’s good knowledge and acceptance of the cloud here,” he said. “There’s a huge percent of virtualisation throughout Australia, and therefore a much better educated client than we’re seeing elsewhere.”

Infraserve director Roy Pater told CRN late last year said he expected 20 independent software vendors (ISVs) to get on board AppLogic over the next year.

“The AppLogic grid allows ISVs to move their software to any grid anywhere in the world,” he said. “That I see is a major plus to the Australian ISV; it’ll mean software previously not seen in Australia will come here.”

CorePlus’s cloud management platform has been running in Infraserve’s Australian data centre for just over a month, with several hundred potential customers testing it out. Landry expects up to 60 percent to adopt the technoloy.

CorePlus will have a dedicated Australian office set up in a few weeks.

“We’re looking at bringing in our head of business development, some sales engineering and additional account managers. Support we’ll do with various partners,” he said. “We’ll start with two staff; one sales resource and one technical. But that will grow over the coming year, depending on the speed of adoption.”

CorePlus is yet to sign any local partners. Landry expects it will gain 6 or more Australian partners over the next two months, and said longer term there is “easily several million dollars a month in business available”.

Landry declined to provide market share figures for CorePlus in US, describing it as “small but growing 10 percent year on year”. CorePlus counts US customers such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation and General Motors.
