The system was ordered by Elders in December 2007 and installed into Elders’ Adeliade facility in February 2008.
As a conglomerate of diverse businesses, Elders required a scalable, flexible and reliable technology foundation that would support its computing demands.
Chris Ferguson, CIO of Elders said Hyro was able to bring its partnership with IBM, helping the firm provide a solution suitable for Elders’ requirements.
The installed system carries 16 processors (12 activated), 384GB of RAM, around 30TB of disk storage and supports over 3,000 users. It provides very high levels of performance today with scope to expand capacity as additional business needs arise, said Ferguson.
Bill Bradshaw, Hyro branch manager in South Australia claimed this project included one of the largest systems of its type ever delivered in Australia.
“We have been able to design, source, install and go live with such a complex system, on time and on budget” Bradshaw said.
