Google seeks SEO manager for better Google results

Google is so big that even its own company has been swallowed by the demands of search engine optimisation (SEO). That, at least, is the takeaway from news that Google is hiring an SEO program manager to keep check of the internet giant's page rankings.

“As a Program Manager for Technical SEO, you will work with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Engineering and more to help drive organic traffic and business growth,” the job description reads. “You will take part in website development and optimization, help shape blog and social strategy, improve website code hygiene and define web architecture for international websites.”

You'd think that it would be easy to “help drive organic traffic” when you work for the company that create the search algorithms in the first place. Interestingly, this suggests that Google's may be enabling machine learning on its algorithms, and that even the company isn't sure how the artificial intelligence is weighing up content.

With advanced AI methods such as machine learning and deep learning, machines, not humans, decide ranking factors. If technology like this has been rolled out, no wonder Google want a living and breathing SEO manager to keep on top of things.
