Former ANZ Bank cyber security chief Steve Glynn joins consulting startup elevenM

ANZ bank’s former chief information security officer, Steve Glynn, has joined cybersecurity consultancy firm elevenM.

Glynn, who also currently consults for insurance company IAG, served in ANZ's CISO role for more than two years before departing in February this year.

“Steve brings in a lot of value and a new perspective with the business,” fellow elevenM principal Peter Quigley told CRN.

Glynn joins Quigley, who previously worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Melanie Marks, formerly of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, as the newest principal with elevenM.

Glynn will specialise in the provision of strategic security advice to organisations, particularly on cyber resilience and on how they can grow with safety.

Prior to his role with ANZ, Glynn held various roles with ANZ, the Royal Bank of Scotland and Dutch bank ABN AMRO in both Australia and Singapore.

“I bring over 20 years of senior information security, cybersecurity and technology risk experience that compliments the extensive experience and capability of the rest of the team,” Glynn told CRN.

“I have a keen interest in not only the technology aspects of cyber security but also how the ‘human’ element remains so very important in building an organisation's cyber resilience.”

He added that after departing his CISO role with ANZ and transitioning to consultancy work, the idea of collaborating with Quigley and Marks — who were introduced to him through a mutual contact — resonated with him.

“I am a big believer in collaboration and bring a good network of like-minded individuals who are keen to work more closely together to better protect sensitive information and assets,” Glynn told CRN.

“I’m looking forward to working with Peter and Mel to help organisations better understand, articulate and address cyber risks and build better cyber resilience.”
