Ex-Sun MD joins NBN Co

Ex-Sun managing director Jim Hassell has joined NBN Co as its head of product development and sales.

Hassell, who led Sun's Australasian operations between 2000 and 2008, was due to take up his new role next month.

He was recruited to the role by the executive search firm Egon Zehnder.  The same firm was tasked with finding a replacement for Telstra chief Sol Trujillo after he left the telco giant.

Hassell has also previously held roles with IBM and, most recently, with Broadcast Australia/Hostworks.

He will be based in NBN Co's Sydney office.
