Ex-Accenture MD joins Telstra board
Jane Hemstritch

Telstra has appointed former Accenture regional managing director Jane Hemstritch as a non-executive director.

Her appointment is effective from 12 August and she will stand for election by shareholders at Telstra's annual general meeting in October.

Hemstritch was chosen for her experience as a director and also professional services, according to Telstra chairman John Mullen. She will also serve as a member of the Remuneration Committee.

"Jane offers a great deal of experience as a director and executive. She was Accenture's managing director for communications and high tech in Australia and then Asia-Pacific for over five years, and a former lead partner on the Telstra account for five years before that. We are pleased to welcome her to the Telstra board," said Mullen.

Hemstritch other current board positions include Lend Lease Group, Tabcorp Holdings, the Water and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, the Victorian Opera Company and the National Library of Australia Council and Herbert Smith Freehills Global Council.

Hemstritch worked for Accenture Australia from 1982 to 2007. She was a non-executive director of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia from 2006 and Santos director from 2010 until earlier this year.

Prior to Accenture, she worked for the Kerr Foster accounting firm in Melbourne and London.
