Storage vendor, EMC has acquired Kashya, a privately held of enterprise data replication and data protection software company for US$153 million.
The US-based company was acquired in a cash transaction and will be integrated immediately into the EMC Software Group.
Dave DeWalt, president, EMC Software Group, said EMC would combined Kashya’s portfolio of software with EMC’s industry virtualisation and data protection technologies.
In addition, Kashya’s Israel-based R&D operation has formed the core offering of EMC Israel Software Development Centre.
Kashya's disaster recovery and “snap” replication technology expands EMC’s Invista, a network-based block storage virtualisation product, the companies said.
EMC also plans to use Kaysha’s data protection technology as the engine in future releases of EMC RecoverPoint software.
Through its current product set, Kashya allows EMC to expand its software portfolio for remote replication across environments.
An EMC spokesperson said, Kashya’s remote application and data replication product will be made available to the Australian market later this year. EMC’s products utilising Kashya technology will also be available in the second half of this year.
