Dimension Data has joined Macquarie Telecom, Sliced Tech and Vault Systems as the fourth company to get the Australian Signals Directorate's seal of approval to host protected data.
The list determines companies that have met certain eligibility requirements to process and store sensitive Australian government information. For Dimension Data, the certification means the IT solutions provider can now host government data classified up to the Protected level.
The certification is key to being able to provide cloud services to security-conscious government agencies, and Australian government agencies aligning with the Information Security Manual's guidelines must only use outsourced cloud services listed in the ASD CCSL.
Dimension Data said in an announcement it could now provide a full suite of Protected cloud delivery models comprising a consumptive IaaS, hosted private cloud and private IaaS.
“The Australian government is keenly aware of the risks of cyber breaches and the need to secure its data and communications at the highest level," DiData's David Hanrahan, general manager for cloud services, said.
"We undertook the process to obtain a Protected certification for our government cloud service to ensure we had a full suite of services for federal agencies to leverage.”
DiData joins Macquarie Government, Sliced Tech and Vault Systems as Protected-level certified cloud services providers.
The ASD’s Certified Cloud Services List also lists a number of vendors, including Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, IBM, Salesforce and ServiceNow, who have been certified to host Unclassified government information.
